This book was one of the best books I have read. Read it in a couple or days. Very suspenseful. The characters are so believable. I could really identify with the mother and how she could not believe her son could be involved in any kind of trouble and then wanting to protect her son and all the fear when she felt he was in danger. I really liked Angus Reid because he was so compassionate and believed in justice when crimes were committed. He would not stop until he resolved the case. The end was eye opening when the mother was able to see some of the same things within herself that she had accused her husband of. Very clean — no bad language or sexual content.

This book is absolutely amazing! I can't get enough of the series, it's hands down the best thing I've ever read. I have fallen in love with Urcelia Teixeira’s writing.

I try to wait patiently until each of Urcelia’s books come out because they are so good. This book, Caleb’s Cross, is an exciting, suspense filled book with an Amish twist. Another great book by Urcelia. My only problem? Now I have to wait for her next book.

I almost never actually buy books. I either look for freebies or borrow from the library. However, after reading the free prequel “Lost Boy”, I bought “Jacob’s Well” and subsequently the other two books in the series. Nearly red each of them in one sitting. They are “can’t put them down “ books. They are excellent.

Sheriff Reid sent to a crime scene that is next to an Amish community that is very much tied to the community. With the stand off culture of the Amish they are hesitant to reveal any information and are keeping many secrets from the Sheriff

There are so many layers in this story, will all that is going on that you are left until the last moment to find out how Sheriff Reid finely puts all of the pieces all of the puzzle together.

This is the best adventure of any of Urcelia’s books. Wow, with it’s twists and turns as things unfold in the story you will not figure it out ahead of time.

Enjoy the story as things unfold you will find it hard to put down.

Wow! This incredible book kept me guessing, trying to solve the mystery before Angus did. There was something questionable about Dr. Fisher, which I unfortunately figured out long before those who had experienced his chiropractic ways were prepared to talk about it. For Caleb, leaving the Amish had been the best choice, but would he have another chance with his parents and his missing sister, Rachel?

Each story in the series gets better! Although they can be read as stand alone novels, the series is best when read in order. Urcelia Teixeira is one of my favorite authors. Her stories are exciting, never offensive, and filled with relatable, imperfect, and realistic characters who are just trying to live life in accordance to their faith. I love the truth that is woven throughout her stories.

Rachel hates her visits to Dr Fisher, recommended by the Amish ekders. This time she finds his corpse and runs away. Angus Reid investigates and is hampered by the tight lipped Amish elders. How did Dr Fisher die? Angus has no clue and then there is another death similar to the doctor's and Rachel is missing. Her estranged brother, Caleb is determined to find his sister and puts his faith in God. A nail biting thriller with a jaw dropping twist.

Wow! Wow! Wow! Caleb's Cross is an incredible book - I could not put it down. A story about life in a closed community - Amish - and things that can happen living this way. It was intriguing, suspenseful, incredibly moving. She shows God's grace and mercy as she gently shares Gods word, leading her characters to the best possible conclusion. I just love Angus Reid and Dr Delaney - could there be a relationship happening there!!! Her characters are so real and genuine - sometimes confused and uncertain as we are- sometimes incredibly brave and courageous.
Buy this book -It is EXCELLENT! Each book she writes just gets better and better. I am so looking forward to the next in the series. Thank you Urcelia!

Caleb’s Cross is book 3 of Urcelia Teixeira’s series about Angus Reid, the sheriff in a small coastal town in New England. (I suggest you read Urcelia’s prequel, Lost Boy Found, which lays the foundation for Angus and the town he is now serving.) Even though Caleb’s Cross is book 3, you can enjoy this book without reading Book 1, Jacob’s Well, and Book 2, Daniel’s Oil, as they are stand alone books.

Caleb’s Cross takes place in an Amish community. I’ve read a few books about the Amish in years past so enjoyed this setting for the book.

The book opens with Rachel, a young Amish woman, filled with anxiety at the death of the Amish town’s chiropractor. These opening pages immediately grabbed my attention. Rachel feels alone, unsafe, and is longing for her brother, who no longer is part of the Amish community. She writes him a letter which she is unable to get to him as she has a mishap in the river. Hmmm…. What happens to Rachel? The book goes silent on her whereabouts. I, as the reader, am now hanging over the edge and could not put the book down! I’m wondering: Did she kill the chiropractor? If not Rachel, then who? And, why would anyone want to kill a chiropractor?

Sheriff Angus enters the scene to investigate the chiropractor’s murder. His friend, Murphy, the local medical examiner, struggles to find the cause of death. (It’s a very wild ride for the reader to learn how the chiropractor died.) And, then there is another death. Same symptoms. The plot thickens. What darkness lurks in this Amish community? Everyone seems to think missing Rachel is the murderer. But, is she?

Angus continues his investigation, interviewing Rachel’s parents and others in the Amish community. Everyone’s lips are tightly sealed. (I wanted to scream at some of the fictional characters for being so tight lipped – when the truth would set them free and help Angus in solving these crimes!) Angus keeps digging and interviewing. Rachel’s brother shows up and surprise! he is someone Angus knows from town. The brother joins in the search for Rachel and helps with the investigation.

The final part of the book keeps the reader guessing until the end. I could not put the book down. Well done, Urcelia!

As I always write in my reviews, I continue to appreciate the cleanness of Urcelia’s books. No swearing. No sex. No graphic violence. God is always part of every book. This book also wonderfully addresses forgiveness – something we all need to be reminded of. Urcelia writes a novel everyone can enjoy – from teen to grandparent.

I recommend you snuggle up with a cup of hot chocolate and read Caleb’s Cross. You won’t be disappointed.

Wow! I thought I'd read a few pages of Caleb's Cross last night, but ended up not putting it down until I devoured the whole book! I thought I had the plot figured out, but boy was I wrong!
Urcelia Teixeira did a nice job of dealing with a sticky subject with grace and hope. I'm already looking forward to Angus' next adventure!
